SKIN TREATMENTS - Advanced Cosmetic Procedures

Thread Veins These are not broken capillaries but rather permanently dilated capillaries. Thread veins have very thin walls which constantly dilate and constrict. As we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated.

There are numerous causes including: sun damage, ageing, smoking, alcohol, hereditary, sports, temperature extremes/harsh weather exposure, hormones and skin fragility.

Blood spots These are bright red vascular blemishes which lie just under the surface of the skin. They can become dome shaped and raised and are most common on the torso. Most people aged over 30 have at least one and they are even more prevalent in men than women.

Spider Naevus This is a central dilated blood vessel with smaller capillaries radiating from it like the legs of a spider. They can be found in isolation or gathered together on areas such as the face or décolletage.

Skin Tags These are very common and most frequently found on the neck and face. They often appear with a neck like a mushroom and vary in size from a tiny speck, to the size of a pea or larger. Skin Tags are usually found in areas of friction such as the underarm, folds of the skin, under the breasts or around the neck where necklaces may irritate.

Milia These are tiny white hard lumps containing keratin which lie superficially under the surface of the skin and can be easily treated with Short Wave Diathermy. Their exact cause is unknown although they are often associated with dry dehydrated skin.

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra These smooth, dome shaped, brown to black papules seen mainly on the checks, neck and upper chest are a common disorder which often develop on dark skin types in adolescence.

Warts There are various types of warts including plane, common, seborrhoeic and verrucas. Warts can develop individually or in clusters and all can be easily and successfully treated using electrolysis. Seborrhoeic Keratosis are benign skin lesions which develop as a result of UV damage and skin ageing and can grow up to two inches in diameter.

Moles Hairs in moles can be removed with electrolysis and the size and colour of moles can be visibly reduced by those trained in Advanced Cosmetic Procedures. Hairs in moles are generally deep terminal hairs with a very rich blood supply. Repeat treatments are required.

Hairs from moles (and moles themselves) can be treated by those trained in ACP techniques. Once treatment has started the mole may reduce in size and colour. Hairs in moles are generally deep terminal hairs with a very rich blood supply. Repeat treatments, as with electrical epilation are required.

Many people have what they think are moles but in actual fact it can be a skin tag or a sebaceous cyst or another blemish that can easily be treated.

1.   How much will it cost?

£125 is the cost to remove the skin tags, milia, warts, thread veins, blood spots etc.  This will depend on how many there are to be removed as lots can be removed in one treatment.  Usually one treatment is enough but if you have many or treatment is around the eye area then a second treatment may be required as the skin becomes sensitive if too much is done at a time.

2.  How long does it take?

The treatment itself does not take very long - you can see a skin tag being removed in our video - also treatment being carried out on thread veins and photos of milia, cysts etc., where only one treatment was required.

3.  What is the procedure?

Advanced Cosmetic Procedures  are carried out with a fine microprobe (not a hypodermic needle) and heat is passed through it causing cauterisation of the required area. There will be a sensation of a short sharp sting at regular intervals causing coagulation.

4.   Will it hurt?

These procedures cause only mild discomfort at the time of the treatment but once the procedure has been completed you will receive a gel to take home with you and you apply this at close regular intervals to keep the area cool and clean for the first day.  After that you may only need to continue application if the area is sore.  Aftercare notes are also provided.

5.  Will I need to have time off work?

You will not need to take time off work. Some slight scabbing is likely to form at the area of treatment which may last from a day or two or more depending on amount of treatment and your own healing rates.
